About This Site

For at least a dozen years, I’ve lived my life with several guiding thoughts or theories, including:

Some people speak because they have something to say; others, because they have to say something.

My goal? Be more of the former than the latter. Much more. That’s part of why I never bought into the typical online diary-style of blogging. I could count, with one finger, the number of people who give a damn what I had for breakfast or what I did in the course of any given day’s events.

(That handful of people probably follow me on Twitter and get their daily fix there.)

Instead, my goal here is to make the internet a more interesting place for those of you with the patience or the kindness to follow or subscribe to this thing. I strive to share things here that I find interesting, useful, or otherwise remarkable. You won’t find a great deal of interest in all of the things I share here, but I hope that you’ll at least find interest in most of the things that I share.

With a little luck, I might even be able to introduce you to a new interest, hobby, or subculture that you never knew existed.

There will be some metablogging and there will be a sprinkling of personal content, but my day-to-day life just isn’t that interesting.

Rest assured, however, that I’ll let you know when anything interesting does happen.

Technical Details

This web site is hosted on a shared sever by DreamHost. They’re not the greatest hosting provider out there, but they get the job done for a reasonable price, so I can’t complain too much.

Everything you see here is published on the latest version WordPress, using the Thesis theme. I like WordPress as a publishing platform because it does exactly what I need it to do. It makes publishing on the web simple and intuitive, but it has enough power under the hood so that I can bend it or extend it to do anything I need.

The daily link entries are published through the blogging tools at Delicious.

Site stats are tracked with Google Analytics.

Web Standards

Web standards are important, and this site tries to adhere to them.  The HTML and CSS should both verify as valid markup and style.

This something looks goofy, it’s probably because your browser sucks.  If you’re using a modern, standards-compliant web browser and something looks strange, please let me know.  If you’re using Internet Explorer, get a browser that doesn’t suck.
